About Auckland City Stamps

Established in 1974, Auckland City Stamps is one of New Zealand’s leading stamp dealers and a major buyer of New Zealand and World Stamps and Postal History. Co-owner David Holmes joined the company in 1977 and purchased it outright with Nigel Shanks in 2009. David Holmes is considered an authority on New Zealand Stamps and Postal History and is a life member of The Postal History Society of New Zealand and The New Zealand Stamp Dealers Association; David has an impeccable reputation spanning over 40 years in the industry. Nigel Shanks is a company director with successful business interests in marketing, beverage and hospitality in New Zealand and around the Pacific.

The company holds at least two public and five postal auctions each year offering material from New Zealand and around the world. Auckland City Stamps is well known for offering New Zealand specialised stamps of great rarity along with world material, estate and large box lots. In addition to the considerable auction work, the company also offers mail order and retail material from its comprehensive stock.

Aside from auctions and direct sales, the company also publishes the ACS Catalogue of New Zealand Stamps each year which is the most accurate, up to date listing and price list of every New Zealand stamp issued. Specialised New Zealand Collectors are provided with the CP Catalogue of New Zealand Stamps and its annual supplement which are also owned and published by Auckland City Stamps, purchased in 2014 from long term dealer Campbell Paterson Ltd (founded 1949).
